I’m delighted to be delivering a workshop in Lucan Library as part of their Bloomsday Celebrations and Summer Programme. I’m looking forward to having fun creating characters and working in groups, pairs, as well as writing individually.
If you haven’t planned anything for Bloomsday 2018, check out the Bloomsday Festival for an array of wonderful events which celebrate the characters, story and action of Ulysses, James Joyce’s novel which takes place on June 16th, 1904.
To get you in the mood, and as a change from Ulysses, here’ s the opening of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man – I love the humour and play with words, the blunt description of the characters that gets the reader right inside the narrator’s view point….
Once upon a time and a very good time it was there was a moocow coming down along the road and this moocow that was coming down along the road met a nicens little boy named baby tuckoo….
His father told him that story: his father looked at him through a glass: he had a hairy face.
Happy Bloomsday!
Would love to join you, but not this year. Enjoy!
