UPDATE 09/10/2024

The Holy Cows Project. This project began in October 2023 with Shauna Gilligan’s application with Niamh Boyce (editor) and Alan Hayes (publisher) as collaborative partners for funding from Brigid 1500/Kildare County Council.

Once funding was granted, this was swiftly followed by an open call out for submissions from 22nd January 2024 to 12th February 2024 inclusive.

Thank you to everyone who submitted work – it has been a joy reading, considering and selecting a wonderful cross-section of writing and art for the project anthology FIRE which was launched by Lucina Russell in September 2024 in Naas Library and Cultural Centre. It was an evening of reading and performance to remember!

It has been an amazing year working on this project, selecting and editing your work. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The project and this email will formally close at the end of November 2024. Should you wish to keep in contact with the editors or publisher please contact them via social media or via this project website.

Thank you once again to our wonderful funders, Brigid 1500/Kildare County Council.

KEEP HER LIT!

  1. Does the work have to be about the sacred feminine AND Brigid and Kildare or would an experience of the sacred feminine that has taken place somewhere else be acceptable?

    1. Hi Mary Gene, Thank you for taking the time to comment. The call covers three themes – sacred feminine, Brigid, and Kildare – so submissions may speak to all three or one or two of themes. I hope this helps!

  2. Hi Shauna, Could you please clarify the size of the image for a visual art work. Is the 2MB; 300dpi max or min size required?
    Is 2000pixels minimum 2000 width x 2000 height?
    thank you

    1. Hi again, it’s not the work itself but the image of the work the MB measurements refer to, so maybe think of it as the size of the file. The pixels is the dimensions itself, which is the minimum required. Thanks a mill.
