Margo McNulty and Luke Gibbons on Duality [Video]

In these times of restraint, lock-ins and lock-downs, it is a pleasure to revisit – albeit briefly and virtually – the exhibition Duality in which some of my writing features.

Having experienced the process of creating and working on the publication Duality, and walked through and into the exhibition, being drawn towards and inside those trees, it is enlightening to hear Margo speak of her narrative and artistic intentions. Take 4 mins, 58 seconds and enjoy this video in which Margo McNulty and Luke Gibbons speak about Duality.

With thanks to Roscommon County Council and Kildare County Council for Arts Act Grants funding.

Following on from the wonderful launch of our art book Duality at The Kildare Readers Festival in October 2019, I am delighted to announce the opening of Margo McNulty’s art exhibition in Roscommon Arts Centre.

The exhibition, also entitled Duality, will be opened in Roscommon Arts Centre by Luke Gibbons at 4pm on Saturday 15th February 2020.

In the exhibition, a small selection of my writing complements her visual art just as our work dialogued together in the book. It would be wonderful to see some of you there – everyone is welcome.

See COLLABORATION for some photographs of the opening.

Book launch: Duality with Margo McNulty

Duality Poster_001

Artist Margo McNulty and I have spent the last few years exploring our common interest of shrinking buildings and land memory (collective and individual) and the materiality of The Curragh, County Kildare. We used the physical and cultural space as starting points capturing the changing landscape so that the structure of our collaboration evolved and emerged.

We are delighted that Duality will be launched as part of Kildare Readers Festival in Kildare Library, at 7pm on Friday 11th October. Special guest speaker is Lucina Russell (Kildare Arts Officer). Thanks to Kildare County Council and Roscommon County Council for funding this collaborative project.
